This conference on Design in Transport was organised by the University of Jyväskylä and took place in Jyväskylä, Finland, on 15 – 17 May 2023. The conference focused on the design of innovative transport and energy-related solutions using new digitalized optimization methods and tools and was motivated by the urgency of addressing climate change and designing innovative solutions related to transport and energy using new digitalized optimization methods and tools.
At the conference, Dr A. Y. Gurkan of the University of Strathclyde gave a technical presentation on the Gate Rudder System (GRS) and the GATERS project entitled “Gate Rudder Optimization for a Better Energy Saving Propulsion System”. In the presentation, the GATERS project was introduced and several key activities, such as Experimental Fluid Dynamics (EFD), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), monitoring and retrofitting, were covered.
